From the very inception of its internationalization, REFLECTIONS has promoted an agile review procedure ruling out the unacceptable practice imposed, where researchers spend months/years waiting for their submission feedback.

Reviewers are instructed not to estimate the potential impact of a paper in a given field. These subjective judgments can delay the publication of a work, which later proves to be of major significance. Moreover, the publication readership is in the most suitable position to determine what is of interest to them

Suggested review form

Review Process

1. After submission, the manuscript is screened for basic technical requirements.

2. The corresponding author receives a confirmation e-mail, informing them whether the manuscript is properly structured or not, and presents the obligations to the corresponding author.

3. Even though the authors are responsible for potential plagiarized content, the editorial office, by using freely available online checkers, scans the content for plagiarism.

3. Even though the authors are responsible for potential plagiarized content, the editorial office, by using freely available online checkers, scans the content for plagiarism.

4. The editorial office reserves the right to return to authors, without peer-review, improperly formatted manuscripts or non-authorized submissions.

5. The journal identifies potential academic editors for the submission process.

6. The academic editor assigned, is asked to evaluate the manuscript only based on objective criteria, such as scientific validity and the technical soundness of the content. Subtle determinations (interest, novelty, or impact) are not acceptable in the EJES review process.

7. The academic editor`s identity is anonymous, except for those who are willing to disclose their identity under the "open review" process.

8. The academic editor decides whether reviews from additional experts are needed. Reviewers assigned receive a recommendation of completing the assignment in 5 days. Agility, as one of the journal`s landmarks has been prioritized throughout the years. However, it does not influence the quality of the review procedure.

9. Every single paper submitted to the journal undergoes a review procedure.

10. After the review process, the Chief Editor makes a final decision. The time of the review depends on many circumstances.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the unethical act of copying someone else’s prior ideas, processes, results or words without explicit acknowledgement of the original author and source. Self-plagiarism occurs when an author utilizes large part of his/her own previously published work without using appropriate references. This can range from getting the same manuscript published in multiple journals to modifying a previously published manuscript with some new data.

We respect intellectual property and aim at protecting and promoting the original work of its authors. We check for plagiarism by Turnitin software and never allow plagiarism, forged data and falsified data presentation by the author(s).

The journal is strictly against any unethical act of copying or plagiarism in any form. Plagiarism is said to have occurred when large portions of a manuscript have been copied from existing previously published resources. All manuscripts submitted for publication to journal are cross-checked for plagiarism using Turnitin software. Manuscripts found to be plagiarized during initial stages of review are out-rightly rejected and not considered for publication in the journal. In case a manuscript is found to be plagiarized after publication, the Editor-in-Chief will conduct preliminary investigation, may be with the help of a suitable committee constituted for the purpose. If the manuscript is found to be plagiarized beyond the acceptable limits, the journal will contact the author’s Institute / College / University and Funding Agency, if any. A determination of misconduct will lead journal to run a statement bi-directional linked online to and from the original paper, to note the plagiarism and provide a reference to the plagiarized material. The paper containing the plagiarism will also be marked on each page of the PDF. Upon determination of the extent of plagiarism, the paper may also be formally retracted.

Types of Plagiarism
  • Full Plagiarism:

Previously published content without any changes to the text, idea and grammar is considered as full plagiarism. It involves presenting exact text from a source as one’s own.

  • Partial Plagiarism:

If content is a mixture from multiple different sources, where the author has extensively rephrased text, then it is known as partial plagiarism.

  • Self Plagiarism:

When an author reuses complete or portions of their pre-published research, then it is known as self-plagiarism. Complete self-plagiarism is a case when an author republishes their own previously published work in a new journal.
